So this morning I had zero plans to record this episode. I was in a full slump after running a brutally honest audit of my own business, the same kind of look-at-the-data audit I'm always telling you to do.
Turns out that advice is a lot easier to give than to take. In this episode I'm sharing what got called out, what I almost blew off, and the 10-minute rule that turned my whole day around. If you've ever avoided opening Ads Manager because you're afraid of what you'll find, this one is for you.
In this episode:
- The audit that called me out and why the data stung even though none of it was wrong
- What I found when I finally looked
- Why avoiding your metrics feels good today and costs you money tomorrow
- The 10-minute version of any scary task and why it almost always works
- How my Ad Readiness Review lets me look at the scary stuff so you don't have to

[00:00:00] So this morning, I had zero plans to record a podcast. Zero, none. I was going to blow it off completely
I was, I was feeling gutted. And by this afternoon, I had put my head down and had done some work and rebuilt my homepage, and changed how my offers are set up. So stick around because the middle part of this story might be happening to you too
Yesterday I took a quick workshop, and the workshop was things I can do on Fable, because Fable's back now. If you're a Claude user, maybe you're jumping into that. So I had no idea. Anyway, I, uh, I went and I did this exercise on Fable
the first one was an audit of my business and the tasks that I [00:01:00] do and where I spend my time, all of that. Second one was a website, SEO search, su- s- you know, links, all of that kind of stuff. Oh my gosh. Part of, part of the prompt for this was don't sugarcoat it, don't be nice, be honest, look for patterns.
And honestly, it came back and I was completely shamed.
I was shamed by Claude
. Should I just burn everything down? Am I done? Pretty dramatic, right? I kind of also felt like they used... They, Claude, used things Claude to help me do in the past or, you know, brainstorming, just that kind of thing. I feel like it kinda used all that against me.
And I mean, none of it was really wrong,
all of the things I'm always talking [00:02:00] about, audit your business, audit your ads. And boy, this really turned things around for me and gave me a new perspective on understanding what it's like my client's situation, especially if it's not as good as they think it is.
And wow
And here's the thing, as I tell my clients all the time, data is just data. There's no feelings. It's just data. And it turns out that's a lot easier to say when you're talking about someone else's business So after really being in a funk after this... then I, you know, reflected and, and had a closer look and started to work on my website, which has been a hot mess. I had a construct, under construction banner on it and got rid of that, tidied up my offers [00:03:00] and , my homepage. That was the problem And just FYI, part of my audit that I d- I had Fable do for me talked about how, uh, g- this is one of the things that it threw, I feel like it used against me, which was so often I'm saying, "Do you have a tested offer? Do you have a tested offer? How many... You know, you don't have data until you- it's 100 people have seen it."
Like, all of these one-liners that I'm always saying ad nauseam, I don't do. And that was the hard thing for me to hear, which wa- that was one of the hard things for me to hear, which was, " Stacy, you have these offers, you had this membership, you have all of these things, and you mention it one time to one audience. nobody, nobody jumps in, and you shut it down." And the part that I felt like they used my words against me, which was it was so accurate, right? Like, "Okay, well, [00:04:00] we worked on this. We worked on this offer. Did you share it here? Did you share it there?" And just called out, ouch.
Oh, so embarrassing. I mean, Claude even said, "It's not only embarrassing, it's..." I don't even remember. Ugh. Anyway, got to work, almost finished a few things up, started feeling better, and decided, you know what? I'm gonna share this experience. This is a, a really raw, uncomfortable thing to do, which is look at your business and then share all of that embarrassment to, your audience.
,
But
I realized today when I got back to it and, and looked at the progress I had made yesterday after my big slump, that nothing, nothing is as bad or [00:05:00] broken as I, as I thought and It almost never is, right? The data isn't a report card, right? It's not judging you. It's telling you what's working, what's not working, and
, Not looking at it feels good at the moment. "Oh, I'll just look at that later." But at the same time, if you are spending money, and this is part of your expenses, you need to look at it even though it's scary, and not avoid it, right? So this is exactly why, and this reminded me, this is exactly why I built this ad readiness review.
And what's great about it is you don't ever even have to get on a call with me. It's a quick turnaround. You'll have a quick what's working, what's not, what I should fix. And really, the best part about this is you don't even have [00:06:00] to be the one to look at it, right?
If it's scary. I, I'll look at it, and then I'll send it back with your results
So here's what I want you to take away.
Whatever you blew off, whatever you feel like blowing off, just do the 10-minute version of it. Just do the 10-minute version of it. I know it's summertime right now, and, and maybe we're all reflecting, but if it's a three-hour project, just what can you do in 10 minutes? And that's my strategy, and I feel like you can do 10 minutes of anything, and usually you feel so much better after that, right?
And sometimes you finish the whole project
I'll see you next time. Thank you so much for listening
