[00:00:00] Hello. Welcome back to Facebook Ads Quick Tips Or if this is your first time, I'm so glad you're here, and my name is Stacy Covitz, Meta ads strategist for women who are done being the best-kept secret online. Today's episode is a little bit different. It's been pointed out to me, and I realized I have never really actually told you anything about me other than that I'm here every week, having a few people listen so, like, who is this person talking to you every single week about Facebook ads? And that's fair. I'm gonna fix that. . I'm gonna give you the quick version.
I was a stay-at-home mom with four daughters for 21 years. That was my whole entire identity. I was all wrapped up in that and [00:01:00] absolutely loved it. But when my husband was suddenly out of a job, it was,
It was panic, right? Like, I really need to take some responsibility here and be able to earn an income "Oh, wow, what am I capable of? All I've done is babies." Now, I did graduate from college and worked until I got married and had babies, but here I was wondering w- why are all my eggs in one basket financially?
So I'll never forget sitting down, making the decision, "Okay, um, I can do this. I'm gonna get a job," sitting down and starting a resume, which immediately made me think, "Wait, are resumes a thing still?" "Okay, I'm gonna Google that, are resumes still a thing, And [00:02:00] everything changed when I googled that because I discovered, what I discovered was the magical thing called working online. So I ended up doing what a lot of us do. I tried everything, blogging, MLM, VA work, Etsy, Amazon reselling, Disney vacation planning, DoorDash, YouTube.
I am not kidding. Holy cow. I tried all of it, and some of it made money, but not the amount of money that I thought I should be making. What I wish I could tell my 10 year ago- 10 years ago self is, "Stop chasing squirrels." But I was so determined to not only make my own money, but I felt compelled by all of these online people that were just [00:03:00] throwing all this noise at me.
You know, "Do this and make a million dollars. Do that and do this, and you'll be rich, and you'll do this." And so I kept telling my husband, "Oh, don't worry, I got us. I'm gonna make so much money. I've found this new thing." Anyway, a lot of years later, I landed on Meta Ads. Back then it was Facebook, and something just clicked.
I'm kinda nerdy, and I like the way that it was measurable, and , I liked, I liked looking at the numbers and how things worked and testing, and it was kind of like a, a puzzle, and that's just how my brain works, and I really love that. So here I am
- Here's something that I feel like I found. It, it had a more of a purpose. It was helping other women grow their businesses in a real tangible way, and I like that enough to [00:04:00] keep going. So that's me. I started Stacy Co to help women, coaches, course creators, bloggers, membership owners get visible without bro marketing No offense to the bros, but Just more of a warm, honest, no hype, no 10X this, 10X that.
Ads that actually work using strategies and looking at data Okay, so
Let's talk about some random stuff. I watched Love Island for the first time, and I p- I know people are obsessed with it. And so, and my 20-year-old daughter has been obsessed with it for a long time. In fact, we have a premium subscription to whatever channel it's on so she can watch it. But the other night she was watching, and she had asked me a couple times, "Do you wanna watch?"
And I [00:05:00] finally said, "Yeah, let me watch this thing." So I have thoughts. First of all, it's really dumb. Now, I didn't realize there was actually a prize. The fact that there's a $100,000 prize makes it okay. You're gonna do something. You're gonna get money. It's not just like, "I'm here to get discovered and, and find a boyfriend," or whatever.
So, but here's the thing about me. I love stuff like this. I love behind the scenes, and drama, and watching other people's messy stuff. It's very entertaining. It's just a bunch of beautiful people in bikinis, and barely even bikinis, on an island talking about exploring their connections. They say the word exploring at least 1,000 times, and that's the whole show.[00:06:00]
Oh, wait, kissing. Lots of kissing, lots of making out. Making out, exploring, and walking around in no clothes. It... I know this makes me sound like such a prude, but I love it. It was very entertaining. The problem with Love Island is it's on every night. I'm sorry. Who has time for that? Well, some people do, and I think that's who it's for.
Okay, let's move on. I read, I just read Jay Schwedelson's book. It just came out, and anyone that knows me already knows I'm a huge, huge Jay fan. He's not only hilarious, but because he's so self-deprecating, you would never even know how successful he is. But if you don't know Jay, he is the host of , the number one marketing podcast in the US called
Do This Not That, and it's also hilarious and very short episodes. But his book [00:07:00] is called . Stupider People Have Done It. I mean, it's so great. , He does share how he got that title, and it's a good story So he basically wrote a permission slip,
- A lot of the book is about ditching best practices. And let me share a few of them because they're pretty funny
, This just is a few. At work, be the first one in and the last to leave. Cool, now you're exhausted and nobody even noticed
If you want it done right, do it yourself. Cool. Enjoy never delegating and slowly losing your mind
Don't take a vacation. It shows you're dedicated. Cool, but it also shows you're dead inside. , One last one. "Don't take anything personally." Cool, but people keep saying those things directly to me. All right, so that's some of the funny things. Now, , a great piece of advice that I completely agree with, [00:08:00] and that's to be accountable, there must be something that you do every single week.
Every single week. And he goes into, you know, whatever it is, it doesn't even matter if it works, if it's successful, anything. But pick something and do it every single week and hold yourself accountable, so it just reminded me of this podcast.
I always wanted to do a podcast. See, now I'm, now , I've taken over talking about myself. But I've always wanted to have a podcast for probably three to four years, and I've had so many different ideas. I finally decided to do it about Facebook ads, because it was something I could talk about every single day, I thought.
And I committed, I'm gonna do this every week. . And I-
Jay was right as far as that because that is the number one thing I get out of this is no matter [00:09:00] what, every single week for the last, gosh, , 70 episodes, you guys, I have shared an episode. And it just, it's a great feeling. It doesn't matter that maybe there's only zero listeners. I know that there's more, but yeah, it just, it makes me feel like it's holding me accountable, and that has been probably the biggest reward that I've gotten is I know I can do something, stick to it, commit to it every single week
. Now, last week I had an awesome... This, this comes back to my, my story a little bit, and I'm gonna wrap up with this. I had a wonderful conversation with Liz . She has a whole community about money and growth for women. I, will share , her link [00:10:00] in the show notes, but we were talking about why women hesitate to invest in their business, and it's not for just one reason.
It's layered. It's... There's so many. Some women feel like they haven't earned it yet. Some feel guilty spending money on themselves when there are other people in their lives who need things. . Some have been told directly or indirectly their dreams aren't worth that kind of investment, or they just feel that way, and some are just scared it won't work
And I get all of that. I lived it. I lived some of it, so I keep coming back to Jay's book title, stupider people have done it, meaning
People with less experience, fewer resources, and way less self-awareness than you have taken the leap and figured it out. You are not behind. You are not unqualified. You're just in your head. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm talking to myself. If you've been sitting on the idea of running [00:11:00] ads , but keep talking yourself out of it, they're expensive, they don't work, I don't wanna spend the money for my business, whatever any of that is
The women getting great results are not necessarily smarter than you. No offense to all of you fabulous women getting great results, but they just started,
All right. That is my ramble episode. You know who I am. You know I watched Love Island. Jay's book is worth your time, and money mindset is a conversation we should all be having more of. I do have one client spot opening up in July. If you've been thinking about getting real support with your ads, come find me, and thank you so much for listening.
I'll see you next week
