Today I was ranting!

- Personal accounts mean your ads go down if your Facebook gets restricted
- Covered the fix: setting up Meta Business Suite at business.facebook.com
- Reminded you to NAME your pixel before doing anything else
- Described the gold standard setup: one Business Suite, one named pixel, partners not personal admins
Yes, this was a sassy one!

[00:00:00] I just got off a, I just got off a call with a client who just... . this started as something super simple. We were just gonna do her pixel and update her school pixel for her ad account.
She's run ads before. But we got in there, she shared the screen, and this is what ended up being our one-hour call, and this is a common thing that happens more times even think about because it's so annoying,
, We got on the call, after about 30 minutes, I realized I need to just have access to your account so I could just get in there and play around, because to fix it, it's just, honestly, there's no rhyme or reason. It's like clicking every button in Meta Ads Manager to figure out how to get what you need.
So I needed access to her account. I didn't [00:01:00] at first, because what we were doing was something simple. But that turned into, "Okay, this isn't set up right. What's going on? Okay, I need access." And then that was, . Anyway, so this episode is brought to you by that. The situation, in a nutshell, her ad account was set up under her personal profile. Her personal Facebook profile was where her ad account was set up. How does this happen? Well, a lot of times people's
first introduction to ads So you either boosted a post or you were scrolling around and you ended up... They, they have a link that says ads manager or create ads or something like that in your personal profile, and you may have just stumbled upon that. And what happens is, and this drives me nuts, is, and I can't think of any other explanation, is [00:02:00] Meta, Facebook just takes it upon themselves to create, uh, an ad account under your personal profile, and you end up running ads from there,
. Here's why this isn't great. If your ad account somehow got set up under your personal profile and your personal profile ever gets hacked, which we all know, right?
You get those multiple friend requests from people that you've been friends with for 10 years because they got hacked. So if your account gets hacked or locked or anything like that, your whole ad account goes down with it, and there's no separation. In addition to that, if you really wanna do ads, your spending limit is tiny, and you can't really add any team members to it.
And your pixel, your pixel is basically sitting on your personal account. It's not named, it's not managed, it's just sitting out there. It's not getting the [00:03:00] proper data. That's how this whole call, call with this client started, was, "Let's find your pixel." And it wasn't named, and I was... went into this whole thing, like, what's going on?
So here's what you need to actually do. If you already don't have a Meta Business Suite, then go right now to business.facebook.com, set that up, use your business email, not your personal one.
Now your pixel lives right now if, if you're this person or this happened to you ever, it lives in your personal profile in that account, and you can't just transfer it over.
, If your pixel doesn't have a whole lot of data
Since it's just sitting there unnamed and unmanaged and just kind of lost like a little orphan, just start a new one. Just create a fresh pixel and put it in your business suite that you just created, and [00:04:00] start from the very beginning putting all of your assets for your business under one umbrella, which is your Meta Business Suite
Now, if this happened to you, before you do anything else, go to the pixel that's in your ad account, in your personal ad account, and name it if possible
I'm gonna break down really quickly the gold standard of a properly set up ad account. Start with Meta Business Suite account. Have that be the umbrella for everything, your Facebook page, your Instagram, then one ad account, unless you have multiple businesses, but one ad account if you're one business, and get your domain verified.
I know they don't require it, but it's always helpful. Two-factor authentication turned on, and any agencies or admins or ad managers that you [00:05:00] want to add, that will be nice and easy for you. That's it. That's the setup. So if you're running ads right now and you're not sure whether your stuff is set up inside Business Suite or just floating around on your personal profile, go check.
Go into business.facebook.com and have a look around. If you've been running ads and you click on your ad account but it doesn't have your business name on it and it's just looks like it's floating, then you need to go fix that. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go take care of that. All right. That's it for today's episode.
I know it seemed like a rant, but really, I just, I spend so much time doing this with people , because it, it's a hot mess when it's not set up this way, and honestly, I blame Facebook.
