Meta ads strategist Stacy Covitz shares five common myths that make business owners anxious about running Facebook and Instagram ads and explains why they are false.

She says ads are scalable and can start with a small, consistent budget to build visibility, grow an email list, and test messaging.

Ads can help build an audience rather than requiring a huge one first, reducing reliance on organic reach and constant content posting.

You don’t need to be great at tech, but you do need to follow instructions, take a course, join her community, or hire help.

She emphasizes that ads do work when paired with the right product, strategy, budget, offer, messaging, patience, and testing mindset—not by “publishing and praying.”

Finally, she addresses the fear of annoying people, noting that good ads can be helpful and many people don’t even recognize an ad as an ad.

She encourages listeners to pick one goal, run one simple campaign, and learn, and invites them to join her “Ads for Gen X Women” School community for support, tutorials, and a no “bro marketing” environment.

When someone says to you, you should run ads for your business, do you get scared? Does that freak you out? Does that make you anxious? If so. This episode is for you. I am going to talk about five myths that are holding you back from running ads for your business, and it's time that we stop letting those live rent free and your brain.

Let's kick out and.

Get you ready so you can feel good about building your business with a strategy that truly works. And that is Facebook and Instagram ads. I am Stacy Covitz, meta ads strategist, and this is Facebook Ads. Quick Tips. I'm so glad you're here, and I thank you for tuning in. . Let's get going. Myth number one, ads are only for big businesses with big budgets.

I love this one. Ads are scalable. A small, consistent budget. Could do so much for your visibility using Facebook ads. You could grow your list, you could test your messaging. And the, the initial goal when you're first starting doesn't have to be to, you know, win the entire internet with your ad.

It's a great opportunity starting with a small budget to test and see and get the hang of it. All right. Myth number two. I need a huge audience before ads will work. No , actually. Ads will help you build your audience. . If you're waiting to get a bigger audience first, then you're doing it backwards.

Ads are one of the fastest ways to stop relying on luck and being a, the content where you're on there 24 7. Just trying to get people to see you use ads and build your audience. Myth number three, I have to be great at Tech to run ads. Okay. You don't have to be great at tech.

You need to know if this, and this is for you, if you're, if you're wanting to do it yourself, you need to know how to use tech. You need to follow instructions. And I wouldn't necessarily say that I would use Facebook's instructions because I don't believe those are written for real people, just my opinion.

But. You need to be able to follow instructions and if you're, if that is gonna hold you back, then either take a quick course, I have plenty of resources, you could join my school community, or you could always hire someone to do it.

Myth number four. Ads just don't work. Oh boy. This one, this one just cracks me up. Ads work. Ads work. They work with the right product, strategy, budget, offer, and messaging. They don't work. If you don't have any of those things and you just go in because it seems like a good idea at the time and just start pushing buttons.

Publishing and praying. Yes, ads don't work like that, but ads work. You just need a, an offer that is clear and the right budget, the right strategy, the patience, a testing mentality. You would be amazed if you had all of those things, . How you could just start hitting those, those business goals so much sooner than if you're trying to do everything organically.

Okay. Myth number five. This one I don't hear too often, but I do hear it. It is out there, and this is based more on fear and . If I run ads, I'm going to annoy people. Now. I know, I know. I, I can completely relate to feeling like every time you.

Post something or push play on a video record or something like that, and you, and you publish it. Oh my gosh. Everyone's gonna see this. They're gonna think I am, you know, fill in the blank, whatever it is. And it's so embarrassing. I'm, I'm bothering them. I don't wanna be salesy. Well, first of all, . If someone sees your ad, and, and here's the fun thing about it. Most people out there that aren't in the online space, they don't know that an ad is an ad. So no one's gonna judge you for running ads.

, If it's a good ad and it's interesting and engaging, they're probably gonna be excited. Like, Ooh, look at this, this is fun. Or, I need this. If you're, if your ad helps the right person solve a problem, it's not annoying. It's, it's helpful so that that one needs to go if the, any of these myths are holding you back, , this is your sign stop waiting for perfect.

Pick one goal, run one simple campaign and start learning. And if you want some support and have a wonderful community with no bro marketing, join my school community ads for Gen X women. It's a nice, safe place. Ask questions. There's some tutorials in there.

And, really great people. I thank you so much for being here, and I will see you next time.
