0:00:00 - (A): Hello, friends. Welcome back to another episode of Facebook Ads Quick Tips. Today, our quick tips are all about whether or not you should do your own Facebook ads or hire somebody. You've decided, yes, I'm ready. I think I'm going to go ahead and do Facebook ads for my business. But how do I know what is right for me? Should I do it myself or do I hire somebody? And holy cow, how does that process even work?
0:00:33 - (A): I got you. Let's start with doing it yourself. I am a complete and total do it yourself business owner. Everything I've done in my business, I've done on my own. It's been great. I love learning. I'm a lifelong learner and I love to get into tech and back ends of processes and figure stuff out. But at the same time, it has really slowed me down. I have been just, it's taken me forever because I have bootstrapped everything.
0:01:09 - (A): With that said, let's go over some of the main reasons why you'd want to do your why you would want to do your own ads. Number one, you are going to save a lot of money up front. You are not going to have to pay a professional. And professionals, if you get a good one, you're paying them for their expertise and they're not necessarily experience, but the fact that they know what's going on and how to fix it and how to build strategies.
0:01:38 - (A): So you're going to save that money up front if you do it yourself. Number two, you're going to have control over your campaigns and all your data. You don't have to have any stranger or someone you're, you know, unfamiliar with inside of your ads manager and making decisions that maybe you're not comfortable with. And I know what it's like also, when you're a business owner, it's your baby, right? And you, you like to have your hands on everything. And sometimes it's hard to even imagine that anybody could do something in your business better than you if you just put your mind to it and figured out how to do it, at least that's how I feel.
0:02:21 - (A): Another good reason is if you just really love to learn, you love to learn new skills and you feel like this is something that you're going to continue to do and utilize in your business and always do for your marketing and at the beginning, you at least want to know how to do it. So if and when you are ready to hand it off, you already have a good idea of how it works and then you'll feel better and more comfortable when you do hire someone because you'll kind of have the ins and outs.
0:02:51 - (A): So those are all the good reasons to do it. Now, let me talk for a few minutes just about some things that you might want to consider that wouldn't be so great as far as doing it yourself. Number one, if you're brand new to Facebook ads and you've never even been inside of the platform, you don't have an account, nothing like that, it can be overwhelming. And yes, you're smart, you're savvy, or you wouldn't be here. But you might have limited time.
0:03:25 - (A): How long do you want to spend figuring out this platform? So it could be a huge time suck. So depending on how much time you have, I mean, if you have all the time in the world and you're not in any hurry, great, go for it. It is fun to learn new things. I get it. And here's another one that might not be the best idea to do it yourself is even if you already know, let's say you already know how to do Facebook ads. You did it a few years ago, you did it. You know, you learned a year ago, you learned five years ago.
0:03:57 - (A): It's changed, and it changes every single day. I find that to be unfortunate for me as a. As a Facebook ad strategist manager. I'm in there every day, and every day I log in and I have to kind of learn a new thing. Like, what is this? What is this button? What is this toggle? Why is this here? And. And it could be really frustrating and you could make mistakes because there could be a switch that they just all of a sudden have left on and you didn't know.
0:04:28 - (A): So it's constantly evolving. A con or a reason to not do it yourself would be if you're not committed to staying up to date and making sure that you really understand the platform, because it is changing all the time. Here's another reason you might not be techie at all. Like, you might just be in a computer and think, oh, I can't do this. I. I'm too old for this. I'm too tired for this. My brain doesn't work like this.
0:04:56 - (A): So that. That would be the perfect reason to hire somebody. Okay? Plus, and I'll just throw this in there if you're not familiar with the strategy, because not all strategies are the same, not all businesses are the same, not all budgets are the same. And if, Even if you did learn how to do something a few years ago or you bought a course, that might not be the best that might not be the best strategy for you.
0:05:24 - (A): You might want to consider still talking to somebody who understands strategy and just say, hey, I learned this, you know, $5 a day strategy. Do you think that would be good for my business? You know, just kind of run it by somebody. Now let's talk about why you would want to hire somebody with, oh my goodness, this is the biggest one. What a relief. Holy cow. Please take this off my plate. I don't want to look at it, I don't want to think about it. That's what I hear a lot.
0:05:52 - (A): I don't want anything to do with this. I tried it and it is just, it's just so confusing and I agree with that. Again, I am in there all the time. I'm in there every day for hours and it's still sometimes catches me wondering, scratching my head, thinking, what is this? Why, why is this different? Or what does this mean? And, and unfortunately, I don't think the language that Meta has come up with to write their frequently asked questions in their help sections and, and all of that really, really speaks to an, a real ordinary person who might not understand all of these terms.
0:06:35 - (A): So with that said, it's a relief if that kind of thing is frustrating to you. Number two, another great reason is if you hire the right person, the right expert, you're going to get better results, there's no doubt, because they're going to know exactly how to fix things and whether or not something is working or not. And you just have to be patient. Whereas if you don't understand those things, you just won't know. You might think it's just spending money, but nothing's happening. So, so you might stop, but the reality is maybe it is working and you just don't have, you don't have the up to dateness in their everyday understanding.
0:07:20 - (A): And it goes along with that is if tech is frustrating to you, honestly, just don't even go in there. If tech is frustrating to you, you, you wanna, you wanna hand this off, you don't wanna do this yourself because it is, they'll, they'll, they will tell you it's simple. And I have, I do have some, some starter, do it yourself programs that are literally a blueprint and step by step, you know, standard operating procedure with instructions how to do it.
0:07:52 - (A): And yes, you could do that, you could do that in your business and, and I encourage that to the right business. But it's still, even with that, it still could be confusing and you still might have to read the instructions over and over and over again until it sinks in. At least I do. Let's talk about why you wouldn't want to hire somebody right out of the gate budget. That is the number one reason.
0:08:15 - (A): The number one reason that you wouldn't hire somebody and you would just push up your sleeves and do it yourself is because you're going to pay a professional. And it might seem you might get sticker shock. I don't know, I hear sometimes, wow, that's really expensive. But the truth is if your ads end up working and you end up getting, you know, 2 to 1 on your money that you put in, then it's worth it, right?
0:08:42 - (A): So it might seem like I can't pay that much. If you really can't pay that much, if you're a brand new business or you're not even sure if you want to do ads and you just kind of want to dabble, then yes, definitely don't, don't hire somebody because you will, you will pay a decent amount of money up front. And if you don't, you know, if you get some, you know, some person to do it for $5 an hour, then I caution you about that.
0:09:11 - (A): Another reason why you might not want to hire somebody is you really have to trust somebody. You really have to feel good and comfortable handing over the resources that you've worked so hard to create the information to get into your accounts. Now of course you can use password sharing tools. I don't want anybody's password, I don't want their password information, I don't want their payment information.
0:09:41 - (A): All of that can be blocked. But you still are going to have someone that you might feel nervous about working in your computer, you know, in your back end of your computer. So trust is a big, a big reason why you wouldn't want to hire someone. And this one holds true to me too is control. You might not want to hire someone because you like to have control over everything in your business. And it, and it's a very common feeling as a business owner. Nobody understands my business the way I do.
0:10:16 - (A): I just want to, I just want to have my hands on everything. And so if that's the kind of person you are and you're still kind of just not even sure this is what you want to do as far as ads go, then that would be another reason. And last, last for today because again, this could be a really, really long, much longer list. But this is bite sized tips. You might feel out of the loop. You might not necessarily need or want full control or, or the headache of it all, but you want to know every step of the way what's happening. You might not feel like you're getting that because if you hand over the work and the process to a professional, they're busy. They're in there trying to figure things out. They don't have time to have you on, you know, a zoom every single day, filling you in on every dot they dotted and T they crossed.
0:11:14 - (A): So if you need to know every step of the way what's happening, that might be an another reason. Now there are, you know, I, I keep my clients informed, but not on a hourly slash daily basis unless there's something that's really time sensitive that needs to happen. So I hope this gave you, you know, a good idea of pros and cons of doing it yourself or hiring somebody. I so much appreciate you listening. The support has been overwhelming and it's been so fun.
0:11:47 - (A): Stay tuned and go ahead and hit that follow button because next week I am going to talk about what questions to ask if you are ready to hire somebody. So thanks for listening and I'll see you soon.
